Sarah and Ron's wedding was very laid back, the perfect beach day. Brenda Zeigler coordinated their day, which started on the beach and ended under the tent in the backyard of the Event home Pelican's Landing in Corolla. Photography by Neil GT.

The magenta orchid was used in the bride's hair, the groom's bout, and the mother's tussie.

The bright colors were brought under the tent to the reception, also.

Bouquet Friday - Bold, Bright colors

The colors in this bridal bouquet absolutely POP against Sarah's white dress. She chose mango calla lilies, magenta dendrobian orchids, green bells of Ireland, green button mums, yellow spider mums, orange protea, and fiddlehead fern. Can you see the hot pink spray roses and crespedia peeking out? Lemon leaf and looped bear grass undergird the whole bouquet. More photos of Sarah & Ron's wedding next Wednesday.

We used several different flowers to create this coral and peach bouquet including coral alstroemerlia, peach roses, pink gerberas, orange protea, peach hypericum berries. Hypericum berries are a fun addition that we love adding to bouquets featuring these colors!

We loved this bright and passionate bouquet. To achieve this look we used purple hydrangea, purple iris, pink orchids, pink waxflower, dark blue delphinium, and white spray roses. The colors looked great and we wish the couple the best!

Beautiful Blue

We love it when brides add their own personal touches to their wedding days. Melissa’s dad made a sign post featuring where the couple’s guests had traveled from. This is just one of the many personal details the couple added to make their wedding day their own, something we strongly encourage.

We were able to put together a simple arbor for the ceremony site of white fabric and ribbon, which looked great on the windy beaches of the Outer Banks. We also added some lighting to the reception area at Rendezvous event home in Corolla. Melissa and Chris liked to have fun, and we hope they have a fun future together!

2011 - A Successful Year

The Embellishers recently celebrated a successful wedding year with our annual company Christmas dinner at the fabulous Owens Restaurant in Nags Head. Pictured below are Loralee Grimes, Lauren Coleman, Misha Lawrenson, Brenda Korbach, Gail Lawrenson, Rachel Sanchez, and Tricia Lawrenson. Besides owners Brenda and Gail, all the other girls have been part-time. But Loralee has recently become our full-time floral and decor assistant. Brenda and I feel blessed to have all these ladies helping us throughout the wedding season, we couldn't have done it without them!

Bouquet Friday: Beautiful Blue

Melissa’s bouquet was bright and classy. We used blue hydrangea, cream lisianthus, white alstroemeria, and green craspedia. Craspedia, also known as “billy balls,” are a fun and unique addition to a bouquet. We usually include them as green and/or yellow, but they also dry well for fall bouquets. Bright-Eyed Bride

The Krause wedding took place at the Grande Ritz Palm, a popular wedding home in Duck, North Carolina. Jay Bowman performed a lovely ceremony under a chupa designed by our team. The bride’s attendants carried bouquets of yellow roses, lavender sweet peas, and gerbera daisies. We also provided the flower girl with some coordinating flowers and some purple hydrangea to embellish the couple’s cake.

We loved working with Keri and David and hope they have a bright and wonderful future together!

Spring Celebration

We had fun being able to celebrate with Brenda, one of the partners with The Embellishers, when her daughter, Scout, was married this past spring. Scout’s wedding had a romantic, vintage feel with numerous personal touches.

The wedding took place at the beautiful Elizabethan Gardens, a great place for a spring wedding. The reception followed in the family’s backyard, which was transformed by whimsical lighting, an intimate dance floor, and individualized décor.

Scout’s bouquet needed to fit in with her romantic style and the vintage feel of her big day. It also needed to complement the look of her ceremony location, the Elizabethan Gardens, with the liveliness of greenery and spring. To accomplish this, we put together a bridal bouquet that included veronica, pink roses, bells of Ireland, and calla lilies. Check back in Wednesday to see other ways we embellished Scout’s wedding!

Butterfly Beauty

Kate and Adres were a fun couple to work with. Since we coordinated the wedding day, we were able to enjoy the entire celebration of their marriage with them.

The ceremony site was embellished with a wooden harbor decorated with white fabric and greenery. The isle was marked with tin pails hanging on shepherds’ hooks, a popular choice among brides with beach ceremonies. The Brayton’s isle markers were filled with greenery and flowers, including the unique touch of dusty miller, matching the harbor and bouquets. The flower girl also carried a tin pail, with some soft touches that matched the headpiece we made for her.

During the ceremony, the couple released monarch butterflies. The day was so windy that the butterflies immediately clung to the ceremony flowers, adding a charming touch to the wedding décor. We hope that they eventually found their way home after the big event was over.

The day ended with a poolside reception enjoyed by the couple and all their guests. We wish the best for Kate and Andres and hope they have many, many happy years ahead!

A Garden Wedding

Amy and Jonas' wedding took place at the beautiful Elizabethan Gardens. Although it seldom rains for our outdoor Outer Banks wedding, the ceremony took place under the protection of an event tent while it rained softly on the gardens. After the ceremony, the sky cleared and the couple was able to get some photos with Kristi Midgette with the lovely floral backdrop of the gardens.

The bouquet was white and blue, wrapped with a simple white ribbon. Amy was a sweet bride, and her flowers perfectly matched her personality. Their cake was also accented with pale blue hydrangea, a classic, charming touch. We really enjoyed working with Amy and Jonas and wish them the best for their years to come!

Marshes Light/108 Budleigh June wedding

We love the colors that Jaime chose for her wedding. But not until we delivered the flowers to 108 Budleigh did we see how the yellow flowers blended in with the blue tablecloths and green burlap bags. The bridesmaid carried bouquets of yellow spider mums. The bride carried yellow spider mums along with white orchids, baby's breath, and blue delphinium. Bouquet Friday - Beach bouquet

One of the most requested color combinations for a beach wedding are the natural colors of the Outer Banks - blues of the sky and water, greens of the sea oats, tans of the sand, and creams of a wedding! There is something about this bouquet that a lot of our brides love - whether it's the variety of flowers and textures, the colors, or the whimsical look. Blue hydrangea, cream gerbera daisies, blue delphinium, cream roses, cream lisianthus. The whole bouquet is undergirded with looped bear grass, to give it a beachy feel. We have done many variations of this same bouquet.

Bouquet Friday - Outer Banks Spring Wedding

The OBX wedding season started for The Embellishers on March 26 2011. Our first bride, Jennifer, chose flowers in rich jeweled tones to accent the bridal party's attire. (We caught her in the kitchen of their Nags Head rental home and snapped this photo.) Using purple hydrangea as a base for her bouquet, we incorporated fragrant purple stock, lisianthus, and added orange ranunculas for that bold punch of color. Notice the dainty white handkerchief pinned to the stems. It was her great grandmother's - how sweet is that! Gail and I love to incorporate those personal touches that make the bride's day as special as they are. Best wishes to the Mr. and Mrs.!

We are blessed to be in a growing, creative business and are honored to be a part of one of the most intimate days of our brides life! I love pink, so today's feature is a bouquet from this past wedding season held in The Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island. What could be more classic and traditional than roses? Soft pink and cream roses in different sizes give this bouquet depth. Tie it off with white ribbon and a bow for this girly girl and there you have it - classic and fun rolled in to one bouquet.

The Love Project touch

We worked several weddings this past fall with some of our favorite photographers to work with, Tim & Jenn with The Love Project. They recently had the wedding of Adrienne and Matt featured on a wedding blog post. Adrienne was a DIY bride who was wonderful to work with. The Expo

What an incredible wedding expo the Outer Banks Wedding Association put on this year! This was probably the best expo so far with over 170 vendors sharing their specialty in the wedding business with over 400 brides and grooms and their friends and family, over 1000 people in attendance this year.

It was so much fun walking around the expo myself and checking out the photographer’s booths and seeing their different styles and approaches in the picture they had displayed. The food served by the different caterers was outstanding and I think I caught a sugar high from trying out the cakes.

We enjoyed the opportunity we had to meet many brides and hear from them about their special day that they are planning and are certainly looking forward to. We want to say “thanks” to you if stopped by our booth or spent some time visiting with us. DIY Elegantly

We often work with brides who like to do some of the decorations for their wedding and reception themselves. Some of these brides do a wonderful job with their creativity. Shannon added a lot of details to tie in her colors and theme. We provided some of the decor, she provided some. Dream Wedding 2010

We were excited to be one of the contributing vendors for the Outer Banks Wedding Association Dream Wedding this year. Many vendors come together to offer their products or services for the grand prize giveaway of a Dream Wedding. The drawing was held during the annual Outer Banks Wedding Association Expo in January. The winners were Jon and Emily and here is a slideshow of their wedding. We provided the reception flowers and some of the reception decor. What a wonderful, gracious couple!

Partnering with the Elizabethan Gardens

The Outer Banks Wedding Association EXPO weekend is underway. I hear that this year, there are a lot of brides here for the weekend, hoping to finalize decisions about vendors for their wedding. The Embellishers partnered this year with The Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo, to decorate for their open house. Amy Robison, who is the wedding coordinator for the gardens, asked us to come up with some arrangements to showcase their reception room. She got to work coordinating other vendors and ended up with a beautiful open house. With a garden theme, and pink the main color, we ended up with arrangements for the guest tables, roses for the garden arbor, and lots of fun paper lantern balls hanging over the dance floor. It was considered a great success for the gardens to get several bookings, and a wonderful opportunity to showcase our flowers to potential clients. Thanks, Amy!

Outer Banks Wedding Association EXPO weekend

We are gearing up for the annual Outer Banks Wedding Association EXPO weekend this weekend. Besides our booth setup, we are decorating the entrance to the show on Sunday. We got a lot of good feedback to the entrance that we decorated last year, and volunteered to do it again. We hope it will bring traffic to our booth (#19) The colors this year are ocean blue and lime green! Will we see you there?

The Flower Girl can Steal the Show

LK was the flower girl at her Aunt Emily's wedding held on the waterfront in downtown Manteo. She carried a little wand with a gerbera flower attached. She was by far one of the cutest flower girls we have had at any of our Outer Banks Weddings.

Online Dating

We get to first meet most of our brides at a face-to-face consultation. During this interview, we get a feel for their relationship, their style, and their likes and dislikes when it comes to their wedding flowers and decor.

One question that Brenda likes to ask is, "So, how did you two meet?" We like to hear their story and watch them grin at one another as they recall those experiences.

We met with a bride and her fiance just the other day who told us how them met online, which just fascinates us. This was not our first couple who met this way. We are just amazed that 2 people can find each other online, then end up getting married and living happily ever after.

We wonder how many others are out there!

New Adventure for The Embellishers

Brenda and I have been in business together for 3 years. We grew up in a world void of e-mail, blogs, twitter, websites, i-phones, facebook, and computers. So we are learning as we go - you can teach old dogs new tricks!

We recently attended a conference in Las Vegas hosted by the Wedding Merchants Association. At this conference, one thing we came away with was the necessity of social networking and new ways of marketing. We have 3 goals to accomplish in the coming 3 months:

1. Establish an Embellishers facebook page - DONE!
2. Rebuild our website professionally - working on it.
3. Begin to blog about our business - BLOG established.

So, we begin. Brenda and I will blog about our business, Outer Banks weddings, wedding flowers, wedding decor, our wonderful brides, and our experiences as wedding professionals on the Outer Banks of NC. We encourage input from our brides, fans, friends, and family.

Let the adventure begin!
